Microdermabrasion is one of the newer and probably the least invasive treatments there are for skin resurfacing. Speaking technically, skin resurfacing is “a procedure that removes upper skin layers to produce new skin.” Up until recently, a procedure that could do this was usually surgical in nature, whether it be with lasers or some other technique. Today, when done professionally, it can be done using gentle abrasion and suction to loosen and remove the thinnest outer layer of skin. Or it can be done with home microdermabrasion kits that can loosen the dead skin cells in order for them to be washed away.
